Program Lead, Akwa Ibom State

Background:
Youth Alive Foundation (YAF) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to increasing the participation and influence of African youths in governance and national development by implementing innovative, and value-driven programs that foster economic growth, strengthen communities, regional collaborations and sustainable development in the continent. YAF is headquartered in Abuja, FCT with field offices in Lagos and Akwa Ibom states. YAF is currently implementing projects in 7 states including Akwa Ibom state. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Lead to join our team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This is a full-time position based in our Akwa Ibom state office. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing our programs in the state and the south-south region, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Job Description:
- Develop state level activity work plans and manage day-to-day activity implementation;
- Work with the Executive Director and Programs Manager to develop and maintain clear lines of communication with advocates and key stakeholders and use this to inform and increase the impact of our work in Akwa Ibom state.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key partners and interlocutors, including NGOs, governments, intergovernmental organizations, human rights bodies and experts, journalists and funders.
- Work closely with international, regional, national and local civil society organizations and activists through formal and informal coalitions.
- Establish and maintain effective program reporting and monitoring and evaluation systems (to track, analyze, and report on results) in the state for both internal and external use;
- Conduct state level surveys, need assessments, data, and information collection as and when required for on-going programs or future project proposals.
- Participate in NGO and INGO meetings on youths and the development sector and represent YAF as requested in coordination forums in the state.
- Ensure all program documentation is in place and adheres to internal and donor regulations.
- Raise the profile of YAF in the state and its activities with the media, partners, constituents and the public through a variety of channels including press releases, articles, information booklets and other publicity material.
- Work in with the Grant Accountant the Operations/Development Manager to ensure robust financial reports with supporting documents are submitted to donors.

- Available and able to travel at short notice.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Relative knowledge of the political terrain and critical stakeholders in Akwa Ibom state.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Internet and PowerPoint).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years work experience in an NGO setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide programmatic leadership to a team in a fast-paced environment.
