Position Summary
Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer
Management of Supplier part quality Performance of the assigned suppliers especially in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan & other south east Asian countries and ensure smooth flow of consistent quality capable parts into NCR manufacturing plants, NCR Contract manufacturing plant, Repair supplier location & NCR world wide services networks
This position will report directly to the Supplier Quality Manager. This position requires strong technical expertise in Plastics injection moulded parts, Sheet metal formed parts, die casting parts, machined parts, etc., This role involves periodic interfacing with part suppliers, NCR sourcing, design engineering, new product introduction, manufacturing plant quality assurance, PPAP, SLM, and other relevant cross functional teams for various tasks under the scope of responsibilities. The role requires the candidate to possess the following experience/skill sets
  • Strong knowledge, experience, and technical expertise in handling plastic injection molded parts
  • Good experience in dealing with engineering resins & properties
  • Good knowledge in Mold design aspects
  • Good understanding and knowledge on sheet metal stamping/forming & machining processes
  • Exposure to surface treatment, painting, and other metal finishing processes
  • Good experience in handling supplier quality management systems
  • Possess strong capability in supplier management
  • Good experience in new parts development processes, manufacturing feasibility (DFM) & PPAP
  • Knowledge and experience in using quality tools like SPC, FMEA, Control plan, MSA, 8D, problem solving tools like DMAIC
  • Should have exposure to quality related standards like ASTM, IS, etc.,
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • End-to-end ownership for the parts quality performance of all the assigned suppliers
  • Effective engagement during new parts development at supplier place through regular reviews on Supplier Processes & Development programs
  • Active engagement in the part manufacturing feasibility reviews during NPI part development stage and support required PPAP submissions/closures
  • Ensure timely corrective & preventive actions at supplier to address quality issues identified in the Supplier parts and ensure effective closure of CAPA
  • Conduct regular quality reviews with supplier management teams and drive continuous improvement of supplier quality performance
  • Conduct NCR system assessments and re-assessments at new /existing suppliers per NCR internal plans and circulate assessment reports
  • Plan and conduct part & process quality audits at supplier places per NCR internal plan and drive continuous improvement
  • Release monthly metrics performance report to the supplier and drive regular reviews & improvements
  • Organize / actively participate in the calls related to supplier quality issues/improvements
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Mechanical engineering or Plastics engineering or other relevant discipline)
  • Minimum 12 years of supplier quality management experience in manufacturing or Engineering industry
  • Expertise in Injection molding and sheet metal parts manufacturing
  • Good analytic skill & proven problem-solving ability
  • Experience in supplier audits
  • Capable of interfacing with suppliers in multiple countries
  • Good application knowledge in statistical process control, 8D, PPAP, FMEA
  • Good communication skills in English & Chinese
  • Good in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook & Word)
Preferred Requirements
  • Six sigma knowledge
  • Minitab or other statistical software knowledge
