Housing Officer duty will be acting as a key role in the management of the Housing Association’s existing and new tenancies and properties, this role will involve the provision of a professional and best practice service in property management and maintenance of properties and tenancies.

Reporting to the Property Manager, the role will have particular focus on managing rent collections and cases of bad debt; managing the allocation of properties; advising prospective tenants with regard to housing options/tenancy agreement; and managing void properties.

Co-ordinating maintenance and repairs to properties will also be critical to this role, as will ensuring the properties meet all statutory and regulatory requirements

Minimum Education & Skills required:

  • A third level qualification, ideally property or business-related
  • 5 years experience is essential, ideally in a housing management environment or alternatively in a property management environment
  • 3 years experience as a Housing Officer in a housing body in the Republic of Ireland would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of working with Management companies and Agents would be an advantage
  • Experience and training in property acquisition, lease negotiation and conveyancing processes
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of voids, rent, repairs maintenance

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish and validate prospective tenants’ requirements, coordinate viewings, and advise prospective tenants with regard to housing options /tenancy agreement and managing the allocation of properties in order to develop and maintain an effective relationship with the Support Care Provider
  • Provide pre-tenancy training, with support from the Support Care Provider, to prospective tenants in advance of them taking up tenancy, arrange for signing of tenancy agreement, registration of tenancies with RTB and forwarding of information on new tenancies to Finance Department
  • Minimise voids by coordinating, with the Support Care Provider, the efficient and timely reallocation of vacant units, and keep Newgrove management informed by producing regular reports on voids
  • Maximise rent collection by controlling rent arrears and bad debts in line with the Housing Association’s policies and procedures and tenancy legislation

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • High degree of efficiency and ability to self-direct
  • Full clean driving license
  • Approachable, positive can do attitude
